“Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.” Hippocrates
Food is medicine. It contains nutrients, vitality and life force. Although every food is not loaded up with all of this good stuff, if you choose with care, you can find the foods that will sustain your body.
Most people think of food in terms of it’s pleasure- for a satisfying body experience. The questions we ask ourselves are, ” Is this my favorite flavor, texture, or ingredient?”. We are looking for feelings of fullness, lightness, heaviness, or even distraction from life’s unkind aspects.
When we think about our food as our medicine, it takes on a different role. If we are active in our thinking and mean to use the foods as medicine instead, foods can solve all kinds of problems, We can imagine ourselves as a shell that empties out of vitality as we age. Food Is the filler that adds the life-force back to the body. We can even think of food as panacea, Ideally, it should be like a mother’s hand stroking our brow after a fall- that sweet hand wiping away all of our suffering.
Eat good and healthy food, Use your food to sustain yourself. Good choices are possible and are all around if you just look.
