“Every New Yorker believes in his heart that when a New Yorker is tired of New York, he is tired of life” Robert Moses
“Green Building” was photographed on Bond Street in New York City. Apologies to the out of towners, I know you are also doing cool stuff. The first time I visited Downtown New York City was in my junior year of college. I remember walking down 6th Avenue, the sound of sneakers squeeching on the pavement as the tall boys played basket ball. Across the street the freaks were waiting on line for the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Then suddenly, I spotted her. She was a girl, floating down the street wearing purple John Lennon glasses, dressed all in black. Style and comfort with it oozed out of her, as she sauntered slowly down the street. I looked down at what I was wearing: Green Mount Holyoke College sweatshirt, penny loafers (with pennies), jeans.
“WOW!” I said under my breath,”Oh, yes!”
Two years later later I was living on Hudson Street in the West Village, walking down that street wearing my own black dress. And that was over thirty years ago.
