Don’t enter the holidays without a plan-
Once we slam into Halloween our holiday season begins, so let’s take a moment to talk about our holiday eating strategies. Everyone has parties, school events, work dinners and more, bringing loads of opportunities to make the wrong food choices. Holiday events means skipping dinner and snacking on chocolate cakes with bourbon frosting, eggnog, and cheesy potatoes. Kids are off school and eating big bags of potato chips and friends are visiting. Our normal healthy routine is thrown into chaos. If we want to survive and thrive we will need to have smart strategies in place and an excellent game plan.

I want to help you with that! We are going to devote the next two months to that topic with our fall theme “Holiday Eating Strategies”. Creating eating success for yourself during a hectic holiday season involves a bit of planning, so we will begin talking about this now.
Having a plan means the difference between coming through with your health intact, or feeling horrible, gaining weight and straying into an unhealthy zone that can, for some people, be life compromising.
My simple three step rule is all you need to remember for now.
B- Prepare before (stock up)
D- During the event (strategies)
A- After the holidays (health regime)
But don’t worry gentle reader, it won’t be all nagging grandma business,”Eat your Veggies!” No sir! In addition to the important info (forewarned is forearmed) we are venturing into yummy dessert territory, exploring low glycemic cakes and muffins, as well as savory small plate ideas to serve to your guest. We will fit into the diabetic and paleo lifestyle, but also check the boxes of the yummyness factor, and of course have fun!
